Muunne is the trade name for the binders and other apparel made by Ompelimo Harakanpesä, a one-person sewing business located in Tampere, Finland.

I’m Ree, the founder and person in charge of sewing, accounting, logistics, and everything else at Ompelimo Harakanpesä (“Sewing studio Magpie’s nest”). I’ve been sewing for myself and sometimes for friends since I was a child, and after close to two decades of sewing for myself, getting a Master's degree in an unrelated field, and sewing some binders on the side, I graduated from a two-year programme in textile & clothing manufacture in December 2022.

 

I started making binders purely because of need, first my own and then of others. With the lack of Europe-based shops (until recently), getting a binder while living in Finland has been difficult because of high shipping costs, long delivery times, and often a lack of inclusive sizing. I want to make binders more accessible to those who need them in this corner of Europe.

I hope to grow the Muunne range to swimwear and accessories like fanny packs when time allows. I love making things people need, and doing so in the most sustainable way possible. I hope to keep making things for a long, long time.
